Tram and Streetcar

Aerial Tram and Streetcar from Saturday's sketchcrawl in the South Waterfront neighborhood. I'm not used to drawing shiny metal things! You can see a few tiny raindrops on the page. Autumn is on its way. * Dibujos del teleférico y el tranvía, dibujado en la adventura en el districto del South Waterfront el sábado pasado. ¡No estoy acostumbrada a dibujar tantas máquinas! Algunas gotas de lluvia mancharon el papel; ya viene el otoño.

  1. These are wonderful and I like the framed vignettes very much.

    1. Thank you, Deb! I had been working in small sketchbooks so long, that these big pages are really encouraging me to play with lots of framed mini-scenes. Nice to not have to "commit" to one big drawing at a time--and useful to switch to another mini-sketch while waiting for the tram to come back down the hill, too.

  2. Katura, I like so much about these drawings: the strong contrasts, the limited pallet, the hatching, and the layout on the page. They're terrific! Thank you for the Spanish. I think that "tranvia" could be a useful word in Barcelona.

Katura, me gusta mucho sobre estos dibujos: los contrastes fuertes, la paleta limitada, tramas, y el diseño de la página. Son fenomenales! Gracias por los españoles. Creo que "tranvía" podría ser una palabra útil en Barcelona.

    1. Vicky, the Google Translate is making me giggle: "Thanks for the Spaniards" is how it came out.

I spent a lot of time worrying about how inaccurate the drawings were when I was looking at all the nuts and bolts and pulleys and angles...but the joy of sketching is that you take it home and look at it again and--without the real life thingies to compare it too--suddenly it came out OK after all! Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you like them.
