After I said hi to everyone, I went back in for more talks. I had more fun sketching than taking notes. So I went with it. I am afraid none of my notes are complete... Oh well


While waiting for the bus home, I noticed the fellow sitting next to me was sketching. He might join us some Saturday. We got on the same bus and did some fast sketching....

Cinco de Mayo Festival

It was a beautiful day. The Cinco de Mayo Festival was very overwhelming. I found a shaded area near a big tree and lots of games and infront of the Kamikaze.
It was so noisy, but I sketched away.

Scavenger Hunt #15_American Inn

What I beautiful day! I drove to  The American Inn Condominiums 2129 NW Northrop.
 It was a challenge getting the building onto the page.....
I took a photo of the history that was posted by the front door, printed it, and collaged it onto my spread.

Lilacs_Scavenger Hunt, # 11 Light media on a dark background (and a spring blossom)

Good thing I did another spring blossom. light media on a dark ground.    

I will count this as a #11 List media on a dark ground.

This was done in my arches text wove hand bound (by me) book.  

The blank spread was textures with a variety (do not remember exactly) of FW ink and Golden Fluid Acrylic. Gouache (the white absorbed into the paper... needing many layers), Aquacolor crayons (weird and rubbery), Colored pencils, WC pencils and a little watercolor.

  

Scavenger Hunt #3 & #11 Spring Blossoms /light media on a dark background

I thought I would do a combination of two items on our list: Spring blossoms #3 and light media on a dark background #11.

This is a handbook sketchbook (not watercolor paper). I pre-textured the spread with Golden Fluid Acrylic paint. The sketch was done with gouache. These flowers are from my yard.

I did add more dark in places.... and used a bit of watercolor

Scavenger Hunt: Heritage Tree #327

Heritage Tree #327 Mt Fuji Flowering Cherry (Prunus X "Shirotae" ) is not far from my house.   I sat on the curb to sketch (wanted to be ready to get up if I needed to).  I was welcomed first by the neighbor, then her  two adorable 3 and 5 year old girls. Then Nina the home owner, abstract artist  asked me if I would like a chair or pillow.  Very nice experience.

A few more CAT sketching....

 The CATs are very complex and a good sketching opportunity a block away.

Scavenger Hunt: Construction

They started construction of the six story, 85 unit, 17 parking space monstrosity at NE 51st and NE Sandy on  a half a block a street and a half from my house. We are not happy about that, but it is a sketching opportunity.   I sat across NE Sandy on a ledge in front of Basics Market.

I reached 100 yesterday at Beeswing, but did a few more at happyhour last night and a few more today.  I am exhausted, but had a good engagement with the challenge.
 Construction is starting down the street.... another sketching opportunity...

April 11, Day 4
I invited Kay to sketch with Peggy Smith and I at Beeswing Cafe.  Sketched for about an hour before coffee/breakfast with my NECC water aerobics (The Pool of Love).   Made to 100!

My husband and I played scrabble last night. I kept score and sketched as we played.... He is very tolerant.

Have you tried Joule, a healthy yummy place to eat 4615 NE Sandy.  I had a Mango Lassi. (yup, I spelled it incorrectly in my sketch).   I sketched my Prunus serula on a previous day.

Yesterday 4/08/19 Peggy Smith and I got permission to sketch during  the Gentle Yoga Class at NECC (NE Community Center).  #One Week 100 people.  I guess

Later that day I went to Case Study Coffee to get a few more people sketches in.
