So, we didn't get drenched this time.  In fact, we couldn't have wished for better weather - overcast and mild, with the sun starting to break out towards the end.  And a satisfying number of new faces.

So, not exactly 'urban' sketching.  But it was fun to get out into the countryside for a bit.

1847 Food Park

Despite the rain, a few of us turned out for the first SE Sketch to sketch each other and work on our perspective skills. It was a lot of fun and the results were pretty cool since the spritz from the rain made water soluble ink run a little to create some nice effects. 

The next SE Sketch will be on July 13 from 5-7 at The Heist food carts in Woodstock.

SE Sketch at 1847 Food Park on June 8th

Join us the second Monday of each month from 5 to 7 pm for sketching opportunities in SE neighborhoods. The locations will be different each month but will feature places with lots of seating, food options, and transit access. We'll start on June 8th at the new 1847 Food Park in Milwaukie at the corner of SE Main and Scott Streets which is near the pFriem brewery and the library. The Food Park has lots of outdoor seating, a multi-level indoor tap room, and several food trucks. A short walk around the downtown area yields lots of sketching finds also. Easily accessible via the bike path along SE 17th from Sellwood or bus service to Jackson and Main Street by pFriem. See you on June 8 at 5 pm. 

Beaverton: BG’s Food Cartel and The Round from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 11th

Join us in Beaverton for a fun evening of sketching on Thursday, June 11th from 6 to 8pm. We’ll meet at the food carts at BG’s Food Cartel, but you can also go across the street to sketch at The Round plaza where there’s restaurants and outdoor seating, The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, and Beaverton City Hall. 

We’ll gather at 6pm by the “Human area” signs just inside the BG’s Food Cartel entrance off of SW Rose Biggi Ave for quick intros and an orientation, and then regroup there just before 8pm for the sketch book throw down. 

Directions: Closest cross streets are SW Rose Biggi Ave and SW Millikan Way. If you take the Max, exit at the “Beaverton Central” station and you have arrived at The Round plaza. BG’s Food Cartel is one block to the south. There’s also free street parking including the parking lot on SW Millikan Way diagonal to BG’s. 

Rain location is the covered area at the south end of the food cart area.
