April 18th Sketchcrawl - Farmhouse Carts on SE Division

For our April 18 sketchcrawl, let's meet at the Farmhouse food carts on 35th PL at SE Division. There's plenty of shelter in case of rain, good architecture to draw along Division, and even some art galleries and art supply stores to wander around in. (Plus: Portland's first dog treat food cart.)

Note that the entrance to the food carts is on NE 35th Place. Parking is mostly going to be neighborhood street parking, and there are good public transit options.

• 10 AM: Meet at Farmhouse Carts for introductions
• Noon: Meet back at the food carts for an optional throwdown

Sketching at Cloud Country Blueberry Farm June 11 & July 23

Lindy Rutherford of Cloud Country Blueberry Farm has very graciously invited us to come sketch at her farm! She has five acres, a couple horses, a classic red barn, and other things to sketch.

We've organized two dates this summer. The June date is before blueberry season starts, so there won't be a lot of other people there, and the July date is during blueberry season, so you could also do the u-pick berry thing while you're there!

Details:

• Bring a chair and/or sun protection if you need it
• Bring your own drinks and food
• Lindy has a bathroom available and places we can sketch if there's rain
• There's plenty of parking at the farm

For both events, we'll plan on doing a throwdown around 1 (maybe followed by a picnic?) but Lindy says you can stay and sketch longer if you want to.

Drink and Draw at NW Lucky Lab

Join us at  Lucky Labrador Beer Hall at 1945 NW Quimby St for a casual drink & draw on Monday, April 6 from 5-7 PM. They don't take reservations, so seating is first-come, first-serve. We're hoping to grab a long table in the middle of this cavernous space so we can all draw the building, the food, and each other.

The earlier start time is a bit of an experiment: Lucky Lab does fill up with groups of people playing games or doing their many interesting hobbies together. We hope that starting a bit earlier will let us get a table together, but we'll see how it goes.

No need to RSVP for this one, but we hope to see you there!

Cherry Blossoms!

We hit it at peak this year, and with not a drop of rain!  (Okay, so it was pretty cold in the morning.)

March 21st SketchCrawl - Japanese American Historical Plaza

Let's try for cherry blossoms on the waterfront again.  Perhaps we'll catch them in full bloom this year.  Weather permitting, we'll meet at the Japanese American Historical Plaza at the foot of NW Couch at Naito Parkway.   (If it's raining, under the awnings at the Oregon State University Building, directly across Naito)

For coffee and food, there's Floyd's Old Town Coffee, The Society Hotel at NW Davis & 3rd, and the Saturday Market.

• 9am - *OPTIONAL* headstart for people who want to start and leave early, in order to snatch  up tickets to sketcherfest
• 10:00 am - Gather and do intros in the central square of the Japanese American  Historical Plaza 
• 12:00 pm - Gather again at same location for optional sketchbook throwdown
