Bastille Day and striped shirt

Bastille Day was a great day to be out and about seeing and drawing people...and umbrellas! This one is my contribution to the striped shirt on the scavenger hunt list. There were many striped shirts in evidence on this day. Most with a decidedly French Flair...including our own Linda D's outfit. Tres Bon Linda!

I did these thumbnails with the idea of trying to capture the site with all of it's busyness, people and umbrellas.
And again another attempt with some color.....

  2. Page, Thank you! It is lovely to hear such nice things. Sometimes all I can see is what I would do differently next time. The thing that has helped me the most with my sketching is being with other sketchers (at USK) and just doing more of it. Hah! the key to everything...

  3. These thumbnails are super fun. So much energy! You do catch the busy feel of the day, love how you've framed the views in different ways.

  4. Deb, I especially like how you've put all these people in the setting. You can really tell where we were. I didn't realize it before, but each of your sketches has an umbrella--as does your wonderful cup with the Farmer's Market sketch. This may be your trademark!
    Lovely sketches, all.

  5. Thanks Katura and Vicky. And thanks for the thought about the umbrellas as trademark...all I thought of at the time was how they seemed to be multiplying as I was drawing them!!
