First July SketchCrawls

New sketchcrawls scheduled!

Saturday, July 3, Portland International Rose Test Garden at Washington Park
This spot is well known for its class view of Portland overshadowed by Mt. Hood.

Wednesday, July 7, Lownsdale Square at SW 3rd & Salmon (downtown)
I figure we'll start at those benches near the SW 3rd & Salmon intersection.

It's funny how I could have gone to draw at either of these places on innumerable occasions, and have simply never done it - yet, now that they are sketchcrawls that we'll be doing together, I look forward to them immensely :-) See you there!

Sketches from King Market

My first sketch of the day at the market
it turned in to a drizzly day, and pretty cool but I managed to keep my pen moving on paper and stay mostly dry
this little girl stopped by to draw with us and later her mom brought us a crepe to share!
an unfinished sketch, it seems

maybe because I started trying to sketch umbrellas
but unfortunately, the umbrellas were attached to moving people
I sketched the gal at the Master Gardener booth who I ran into later that night at a solstice gathering.
hooded sweatshirts were all the rage at the market
despite the rain, the market was well attended

which was good for people watching and attempting to sketch them

Sketching on Trimet

I love riding the bus for all the sketching opportunities!

and not just riding the bus, but waiting for the bus, too!

rainy day at the King Farmer's Market

I intended to practice drawing people during the market...this neighboring booth of Master Gardeners was kind enough to stand still for this sketch!

King Farmers Market

We had a nice booth set up today at the King Farmers Market
and were able to advertise our group as well as the upcoming symposium
we met our newest group member
and we tried to sketch despite all the rain.
a few kids and one adult stopped to sketch with us.
