Night sketching

Okay, night sketching was too hard. Or maybe I found the subject too challenging. Here are my attempts (I discovered once I was home that I ended up using green rather than gray on my first sketch of the night.)

Pioneer place sketching

I found that sketching at the mall was over stimulating, but I enjoyed the challenge. I liked having an excuse to try out my sparkly watercolors.

Holiday sketching

Holiday sketching is my favorite. Relaxing, eating, talking, people naturally pose for me!

More Santa Line Sketches

Here are my sketches from Pioneer Place the other night. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and lots of good sketching in 2012. (And I hope Santa puts some art supplies in your stockings!)

deb rossi, Santa scene, people studies

Several of us gathered at the Pioneer Place rotunda to sketch people waiting to 'see' Santa.
You will see these subjects repeated in the other sketchers drawings as we pretty much had a similar view. The most amazing part of the evening for me was that in addition to the children wanting to visit Santa there were adults and even whole families that wanted their picture taken with Santa!
And hence the very large 'Santa chair' shown on the right in the larger overall scene below.

Cheating on Portland with Seattle

This past weekend for a little early birthday celebrating I went up to Seattle to whoop it up. In between market walking, ferry boat riding, and just whooping it up in general I found a few moments here and there to get a sketch off. Mostly in the calm of the train. I'd like to go up to Seattle again sometime to do some more focused city sketching.

A Night At Body Worlds

Sometimes I lost site of the fact that I was drawing actual humans but it was an interesting learning experience. It was a great opportunity to really see and draw the muscles that lie beneath the skin. Well worth the time. I've been really into the versatility and ease of Pitt Pens lately so that's what these are done with.

November sketching Cedar Creek Grist Mill

As I stated before, I usually draw in pencil, takes a long time, allows a lot of indecisiveness.... since Seattle I have been sketching in ink!! Really, so far it is working... ;)

Body worlds sketch night

OMSI's Body World exhibit had a sketch night. Here are my attempts...

Ladd's Addition

I admit I never left the warmth of the cafe....but I did sketch!
